Winterbells |
Hello, and welcome to the first of my award-winning series of game reviews. Up this time is a little game I found called Winterbells.
Winterbells plays something like Doodle Jump, but with fewer doodles and platforms and more rabbits bouncing on floating bells in the sky. Also, instead of controlling "The Doodler" (trust me, I looked it up on Wikipedia), you control a cute little white rabbit. You start the game on the ground, and click to jump up to the first falling bell. From there, the rabbit follows the mouse as you try to bounce higher and higher, accumulating points until you fall back to the Earth.
Although simple, this game is strangely very satisfying. The game is very polished; the graphics and animation are nice and clean, without trying to be too fancy. The audio is also fairly minimalistic, but it works; the background string music is relaxing and fits the style well, and the "ding" when you hit a bell is thankfully not annoying.
In concept, this game is nothing too original. However, in my opinion, the combination of simplistic visuals, sounds, and controls result in a fun, satisfying experience, and create a calming atmosphere that doesn't try to force itself on you. If you're looking for a good way to waste 15 minutes, look no further.
Winterbells gets 4 jumping rabbits out of 5.
